Minong, Wisconsin
Custom Handcrafted Furniture
If you’re looking for a true taste of the northwoods, a real up north kind of place there’s a new store in the area you just have to see. Dennis Visger is the proprietor’s name, but he’s really an artist, a maker of beautiful wood furniture. We’re talking, of course, about The Aspen Den in Minong, Wisconsin.
Dennis and his wife Nancy are local residents who raised up their family and have been married for 35 years. For the last several years Dennis had space for displaying his furniture in the Village Scoop, but when that closed last year he had to find a new place. Turns out he’s right across the street from his old place and from the famous Long Branch Saloon on the main drag (Highway 77) through Minong. Stop in on your way to Hayward, or Spooner, or Danbury, or anywhere else in this neck of the woods.
For all of his life Dennis had been working for someone else. But when his last job dried up as the company went out of business several years ago he figured if he was ever going to start his own business it was time. He’s never looked back. He has a one man shop at home and a one room store in town. But that little store is filled up with some of the most beautiful handcrafted furniture you’ll see anywhere.
“I really enjoy what I’m doing,” Dennis said.
Let’s see, there are tables, including a large octagon dining room or kitchen table that would look great in any summer home from the most rustic cabin to the million dollar homes on the lake. Or take it back to the city and put a little northwoods beauty in your permanent residence.
There is a crib, a unique three piece entertainment center, and a sofa table, dressers, bed frame, lamps and more. But if you don’t see something to take with you Dennis is happy to take special orders. No mater what you order it will be well worth the wait for this fine craftsman to not only build you something beautiful and functional now, but an heirloom to be handed down from generation to generation.
C’mon, the time is now to not only take something home, but something for the home. Stop in and see Dennis Visger at his new store The Aspen Den. You’ll be glad you did. 715-466-4217 begin_of_the_skype_highlighting 715-466-4217 end_of_the_skype_highlighting or www.theaspenden.com
